Emmetsburg News

Funeral Mass for James E. Frambach, Sr. of Emmetsburg was held Monday, Feb. 4, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg.

Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Joyce Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James E. Frambach was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Emmetsburg, the son of James H. and Eugenia (Godden) Frambach. Jim was a graduate of Emmetsburg High School. Following his education, Jim began farming.

On Nov. 30, 1946, Jim was united in marriage to Verlie Boyd at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The couple made their home and raised their six children on a farm west of Emmetsburg.

Jim raised livestock and grain. He was an inventor, a woodworker, and a self-taught welder. Jim earned his pilot's license as a younger man, raised and trained purebred German Shorthair hunting dogs and was a member of the AKC Kennel Club. He also enjoyed participating in muzzleloader shooting and CB radio clubs. Jim was a long-time 4-H leader, hunter and outdoorsman. During retirement, he enjoyed going to coffee with the "guys". More than anything, Jim loved to be with his family and treasured the time he spent watching his children and grandchildren participate in all of their activities.

On Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, Jim passed away at the Emmetsburg Care Center. He was 89.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Verlie of Emmetsburg; six children: Jim (Jeanette) and Tom (Rhonda), all of Emmetsburg, Kathy Kliegl (Pat) of Jefferson, Mary Tonderum (Dave) of Emmetsburg, Rick (Juanita) of Fort Worth, TX, and Ruth Twaiten (Tim) of Emmetsburg; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren: Madison, Tanner, Greta, Sadie, Jenna, Jordan, Brian, Landon, Brayden, Macie, Baylie, Blake, Kenslie, Luci, Gia, Ricky, Lauren and Aubri; sister-in-law, Jean Frambach of Michigan.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Satinsky and his brother, John (Jack).
