HULL - A meeting with the top-ranked Wolfpack of Western Christian ended in a loss for Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks on Tuesday. Emmetsburg would start out well against the Wolfpack, as they matched Western Christian for the first 3:00 of the contest at 4-4, but Western would then begin to hit and took an 11-7 lead at the end of the opening quarter.
In the second quarter, Western would continue to pull away from Emmetsburg before the Lady E-Hawks got some offense to work in the late stages of the quarter to trail 37-17 at the intermission.
Western would go on a 13-0 run to start the third quarter, leading 50-17 and then bringing the 35-point rule into effect for the continuous clock with 3:25 to go in the third frame with a 52-17 lead.
Western would go on to lead 55-20 at the end of the abbreviated third quarter. In the final quarter, Emmetsburg would be outscored 11-8 by the Wolfpack in the final shortened quarter for the 66-28 final score.
For Emmetsburg, Ashton Connelly would lead the offensive effort with 14 points on the night.
Hadley Egland would follow with six ponts, while Alexa Naig came up with four points. Michaela Rehm tallied two points and Kaity Mason came off the bench to add two points to the effort.
Emmetsburg would connect on 12 of 30 shots in the contest for 40 percent shooting as they fell to 2-10 in the Lakes and 2-14 overall on the season.
The Lady E-Hawks will travel to Spirit Lake Friday night to meet the Indians.
