STORM?LAKE - It was back on Dec. 14 when the Lady E-Hawks of Emmetsburg came up with a Lakes Conference win, but Coach Anne Feine's ballclub picked up their second win in league play for the season on Friday night.
Emmetsburg put up a defensive gem in the final quarter to earn a 60-43 win over Storm Lake to earn the sweep over the Tornadoes for the season.
Emmetsburg would take the early lead in the contest, jumping out to a nine-point, 20-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. The two teams would play evenly in the second quarter, but the nine-point lead would hold up for the Lady E-Hawks as both teams scored 13 points in the quarter for the 33-24 Emmetsburg lead at the half.
The second half started with a continuation of the play from the second quarter, with the two clubs trading buckets, but Storm Lake would outscore Emmetsburg, 16-14 to cut the lead to 47-40 at the start of the final stanza.
