GARNER - Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire earned a split in its' final regular season double dual last Tuesday night. The Titans would fall 65-18 to Manson-Northwest Webster but came back to win over Garner-Hayfield/Ventura by a 42-24 margin.
The Titans would give up six forfeits to Garner-Hayfield/Ventura, but the Eagle s were also suffering from open weights, making for a dual with just three actual matches.
At 126 pounds, Austin Thompson earned a 1:12 win by fall over A.J. Arnold and at 285 pounds, Cody Thompson scored a 2:56 win by fall over Brady Baker.
However, at 195 pounds, the Titans' Kyle Long was pinned in 5:56 of his match with Connor Smith.
For the Titans, Sam George at 120, Ty Gibson at 138, Justin Rodriguez at 145, Tyler Hoffman at 152 and Hunter Brown at160 all received wins by forfeit.
GT/RA would forfeit at 132, 182 and 220, while double forfeits were noted at 106, 113 and 170 pounds for the 42-24 final score.
Wrestling against Manson-Northwest Webster, the Titans earned just three wins in the dual.
Austin Thompson would earn a :52 win by fall over Eric Wedemeyer in action at 126 pounds and at 152, Matt McGrauth earned a 3:29 win by fall over John Calmer, while heavyweight Cody Thompson earned a 3:10 win by fall over Phil Dorage to give the Titans their three victories.
Sam George was pinned in :48 by Harley Janssen at 120 pounds and at 138, Ty Gibson lost a Technical Fall to Payton Rice.
Tyler Hoffman was pinned in 1:54 by Connor Alne in action at 145 and Hunter Brown was pinned in 1:00 by Lucas Dolder in the 160 pound match.
Kyle Long was pinned in 3:37 of his 195 pound match by Tanner Peterson before the Titans forfeited at 106, 113, 132, 170, 182 and 220 pounds for the 65-18 fina tally.
The Titans will open the post season this Saturday when they wrestle in the Class 1A Sectional Tournament at Manson Northwest Webster High School. Wrestling starts at 12 noon.
