What's happening at the Five Island Golf Course?

Even though there is snow on the ground, plans are well underway for the coming golf season.

2012 was a great year for Five Island Golf. Financials indicate that memberships increased 13% and green fees were up 30%. The course was in great shape and accommodated over 20 tournaments throughout the season. We hosted corporate outings and also tournaments for non profits at very reasonable rates.

Events hosted by the Five Island Golf were also a success. Men's and Women's league participants increased, with games provided each night to encompass both the scratch player and golfer out for entertainment. Our Men's Open had a fantastic turnout in August with over 80 participants. 2012 was the start of the first Men's and Women's Match Play Tournament based off handicap. We had a fantastic turnout.

2013 is a bright year for the course. Our clubhouse was demolished in October for the upcoming Palo Alto County Community Center that in the process of being funded. The maintenance shed, located west of number nine's green, has been moved north to make room for the new cart shed which is being built by Dan Cooper Construction. The new shed will serve as a temporary clubhouse until a new facility is constructed.

With a new superintendent and progressive board, this season could be the best yet. We're working to provide the best public golf experience for the surrounding area. With the support of the surrounding community, we're looking for this season to be very successful.
