Gary Moore 1958-2012

WHITTEMORE -- Funeral Mass for Gary Moore will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whittemore with Father Merle Kollasch and Father Victor Ramaeker concelebrating. Burial was in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.

Gary Ray Moore was born July 29, 1958, in Britt, the son of Elvin Moore and Alice Kollasch and step-son of Glen Kollasch. They later moved and Gary spent most of his years growing up in Emmetsburg. He graduated from the Emmetsburg High School in 1976 and went on to attend Iowa Lakes Community College and graduated from there in 1978.

After his schooling Gary moved to Algona where he worked at K-Mart for eight years. He later moved to Whittemore where he worked at Elbert Chevrolet and Bonnstetter Auto Body. Gary also worked at the AMPI cheese plant before it was the drying plant and he spent a total of 22 years working at the Pub and Pitchers in Whittemore.

Gary enjoyed playing his guitar, singing, working on cars and motorcycles and drinking beer. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Whittemore Gun Club.

Gary died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. He was 54.

He is survived by his siblings: Jeffrey Moore of Algona, William and Sherry Moore of Wichita, KS, David and Maria Moore of Orange Park, FL, George and Charlotte Bailey of Iowa City, Sam and Astonah Kollasch of Dike and Amy Wellendorf of Milford; and nieces and nephews: Ryan Moore, Daniel Moore, Rebecca Moore, Alex Bailey, Marisa Moore, Jasmine Bailey, Evan Wellendorf, Alayna Kollasch, Allison Wellendorf, Devan Kollasch and Sean Kollasch.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Glen Kollasch.

Arrangements were handled by Oakcrest Funeral Services of Whittemore.
