RUTHVEN -- Funeral service for LaDoma L. Rierson will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven. The Rev. Tom Summerfield will officiate.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven.
LaDoma Louise Rierson was born July 23, 1916 to Clarence and Hazel (Buchacker) Loomis of rural Ayrshire. She was the oldest of six children. LaDoma received her education at Silver Lake Community School in Ayrshire.
On Oct. 20, 1936, LaDoma married Hendrick Rierson of Ruthven. To this marriage two children, James and Richard, were born.
LaDoma was a homemaker, avid quilt maker for Lutheran World Relief and worked with her husband in their International Harvester Farm Implement business. She was a member of the Ruthven City Council and held the position of City Clerk for several years. In addition, LaDoma was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, serving in many different capacities.
LaDoma passed away at the Ruthven Community Care Center on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at age 96.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hendrick; and her brothers, Dick, Dale and Don Loomis.
She is survived by her sons, James of Wichita, KS and Richard (Susan) of Bonita, CA; grandchildren, Curtis (Mandi) of Wichita, KS, Scott (Jennifer) of Chula Vista, CA, and Chris (Amy) of Brandon, FL; four great grandchildren, Kay-leah and Tyler of Chula Vista, CA, Dane and Derek of Brandon, FL; a sister, LaVonne Simonson of Ruthven; a brother, David Loomis of Ayrshire; several nieces and nephews.
