WEST?BEND - The Wolverines and Lady Wolverines swept a pair of games from Clay Central-Everly Friday night. The Lady Wolverines won by a 39-30 tally and the Wolverines blew out the Mavericks in a 65-20 contest.
In the girls' contest, the game got off to a slow start with the Lady Wolverines trailing 4-8 after one quarter and leading 19-17 at the half. The game stayed close in the second half before WBM edged out to a 26-22 lead after three quarters and then went on to take the 39-30 victory.
Kayla Banwart and McKenzie Grimm both had nine points, while Cassie Gearhart had eight points. Ashley Schmidt scored six points, while Courtney Bargman added five points and Sarah Mader added two points.
In the boys game, the Wolverines took command from the opening tip and raced out to a 22-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and held a 35-point advantage, 46-11, at the intermission.
With the 35-point mercy rule in effect in the second half, the clock ran continuously in the second half as the Wolverines went on to a 57-13 lead after three quarters and took the 65-20 win.
Jordan Buhs ripped the nets for 20 points, as he made six of eight three-pointers in the contest, and was followed by Jason Zinnel with 17 points, Jesse Zinnel with 14 points, Cole Banwart with six points and Kurt Banwart, Nathan Grimm and Jack Fehr all adding two points each to the tally.
