Missing one of their starters with an injury, Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks struggled offensively in a 54-23 loss to Pocahontas Area Tuesday night.
With sophomore Ashton Connelly watching from the bench, the Lady E-Hawks put freshman Kaity Mason on the floor along with Hadley Egland, Whitney Kibbie, Alexa Naig and Michaela Rehm against an experienced Indian squad. Pocahontas took a 17-3 lead after one quarter and a 26-7 advantage at the intermission over the Lady E-Hawks.
Emmetsburg would regroup somewhat in the second half, scoring nine points in the third frame to trail 16-39 at the end of the third before falling to the Indians by the 54-23 final score.

For Emmetsburg, Alexa Naig would lead the offensive effort with 14 points from inside the paint, while Whitney Kibbie battled for five points. Hadley Egland knocked down a bucket for two points, while Michaela Rehm and Kaity Mason both sank a free throw each for the final points.
Emmetsburg will open heir Lakes Conference season next Tuesday night, Dec. 4, when they travel to Estherville Lincoln Central to take on the Midgets. Game time will be at 6:15 p.m. The Lady E-Hawks will return home on Friday, Dec. 7, when they play host to LeMars in another league contest at the Emmetsburg High School gym.
