ESTHERVILLE - The boys basketball season got off to a start Friday for Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire at the Estherville Lincoln Central Jamboree. The Titans met up with the Mavericks of Clay Central-Everly for a two-quarter scrimmage and earned a 34-16 win in their season's preview.
Coach Randy Hough's Titans took a little time to get settled into an offensive flow but soon got their up-tempo game plan firing on all cylinders, taking a 15-10 lead over Clay Central-Everly after one quarter. In the second quarter, the Titans' defense shut down the Mavericks, holding them to six points while the offense went on to record the 34-26 win.
For the Titans, Austin Dyer led the attack with 11 points, while Marcus Girres added nine points. Noah Stukey contributed seven points, with Michael Girres adding four points and Trevor Hagedorn rounding out the scoring with three points.
