Arrest Made In Investigation

Emmetsburg Police have made an arrest in connection with the theft of a vehicle and a subsequent arson incident earlier this month.

According to Emmetsburg Police Chief Eric Hanson, an investigation began on Nov. 18 into the theft of a 1994 Ford F150 pickup owned by the City of Emmetsburg. The vehicle was stolen from the Five Island Golf Course on Nov. 18, and was subsequently destroyed in an act of arson.

As a result of the ongoing investigation into this crime, Emmetsburg Police arrested 36-year old Douglas James Grissom of Phoenix, AZ, on Tuesday, Nov. 20, on charges of Possession of Stolen Property, a Class D Felony. Douglas James Grissom was taken into custody and was jailed in the Palo Alto County Jail to await an initial court appearance on the charge.

The Emmetsburg Police Department is continuing its investigation into the theft of the pickup and the subsequent arson incident. A reward of $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the theft and arson. Police believe more arrests in the case are forthcoming.
