With just two games left in the regular season, the Emmetsburg E-Hawk football team, who shares the lead in Class 1A District One with South O'Brien, will host the Wolverines in the home finale`of the regular season at Duane Twait Field.
With Emmetsburg's lone loss to non-district foe Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley and South O'Brien losing to non-district opponent Sioux Center, the two teams have identical 6-1 season marks and 4-0 league records.
"South O'Brien's offense is about 80 percent run to 20 percent pass,"?noted Emmetsburg Head Coach Mike Dunlap. "They have one of the best backs in the state on offense."
According to the E-Hawk mentor, the Wolverines operation of the Twins formation and the Wing I while on offense.
"On defense, they come out of the 5-2 formation, and they will always have seven to nine guys up in the box on every play,"?Dunlap noted. "They roll up the corners and they have a very talented cornerback."
While many of the teams Emmetsburg has faced so far this season have been physical, the Wolverines will be no different.
"They are a very physical team, a very talented team with great speed and great size,"?Dunlap noted.
"For us, we need to continue to improve on both our offensive and defensive lines this week,"?Dunlap continued. "We need to take care of the football on both sides of the ball, and we need to continue to focus on the little things as well and being a disciplined football team on both sides of the ball."
