WEST BEND - High scoring matchups are not all that uncommon in the eight-man football game. But, setting the third-highest score in the state history of the Eight-man game was the result of Friday nights meeting of the Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard/Gil-more City-Bradgate and CAL-Latimer. The Wolverines ran away from the Cadets for a 98-6 win in Eight-man District Two action.
The issue was never in doubt as the Wolverines exploded offensively to take a 60-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Wolverines Head Coach Pete Kapustynski pulled both the varsity and junior varsity players at that point and played his C-team players for the rest of the continuous clock contest.
Ashton Fehr and Travis Fehr would both score two touchdowns in an incredibly balanced offensive performance for the Wolverines. The Wolverine defense did its job to near perfection as well, holding the Cadets to just 24 yards off total offense in the game.
WBM/GCB will face a stiff challenge this Friday evening when they travel to Laurens-Marathon.
