A Mass of Christian Burial for Bridget Fogarty of Emmetsburg was held Saturday, Sept. 29, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Tom Geelan officiated.
Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.
Bridget E. Fogarty, daughter of George and Anna Weir, was born Nov. 30, 1934, in Algona. She graduated from Algona High School in 1952.
In 1954 Bridget was united in marriage to Terrance "Ike" Fogarty. To this union seven children were born.
Bridget was a devoted and very busy homemaker, raising her children until 1974, when she and Ike opened their family business, Fogarty Grocery and Repair. From that point on, until this summer when her health declined, she was at the station cooking, pumping fuel for all of her customers and taking care of the accounting duties, each and every day.
Bridget was a long time member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg.
Bridget passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at the age of 77, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Terrance "Ike" on June 17, 2012; brothers, Lawrence "Bud" Weir and George Weir, Jr.; and a sister, Mary Oldenberg.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Carol) Fogarty of Emmetsburg, John (Holly) Fogarty of Spencer, Tom Fogarty of Emmetsburg, Jill (Kevin) Hanson of Graettinger, Jim (Christina) Fogarty of Phoenix, AZ, Bill Fogarty of Wichita, KS, and Joe (Tina) Fogarty of Chicago, IL; 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Julie Gilbert of Knox, IN.
