Casey’s Throwing Away The Key

For many years, Casey's General Stores have been a fixture in communities, providing fuel and convenience items for people from the early morning hours to late at night. But starting this Sunday, Sept. 23, all that will be changing in Emmetsburg.

"This Sunday, Casey's in Emmetsburg will be serving our customers 24-hours a day, seven days a week," explained store manager Connie Boone. "We're throwing away the keys to better serve our customers."

Boone was informed of the plans to switch to 24-hour operation earlier this Summer, and began hiring additional staff members to facilitate the additional hours on the work schedule. As the store will be open 24/7, that means Casey's Kitchen will also be open as well, creating Casey's signature pizzas, as well as other tasty delights including made to order sub sandwiches around the clock.

"Originally, we were going to start this on Nov. 1, but we're ready now so we're going to start this weekend," explained Boone. "We've hired six more people, but I'd like to hire three or four more good workers."

Casey's implemented delivery of their pizza products earlier this summer, and will continue to offer the service from 4:30 to 10:00 p.m. daily.

The expanded hours aren't the only news for Casey's General Store, as it was announced last week that Casey's General Stores acquired 22 Kum and Go Stores throughout the Midwest. Among the stores acquired by Casey's was the Emmetsburg Kum and Go location at 3001 Main Street. Casey's will take over the location on November 9. Further details on future plans for the location were not immediately available from Casey's officials in Ankeny.

"I'm excited about the extended hours," Boone said. "This means we'll be able to give more people jobs and that will help the local economy, and it will also be more convenient for our customers and travelers, too. We're all looking forward to being here for our customers any time they need us."
