Officials of /Palo Alto County Economic Development announced the sale of the former Skyjack Manufacturing facility in Emmetsburg to Aluma Manufacturing of Bancroft, IA, on Monday, Sept. 17.
"It's very exciting and great to have new life in that facility," noted Maureen Elbert, Executive Director of PAEDC.
Aluma Manufacturing is headquartered in Bancroft, where they manufacture a line of aluminum utility trailers and other items, such as picnic tables. Mike Lloyd, owner of Aluma, indicated that the acquisition of the former SkyJack plant in Emmetsburg will provide the firm with a facility for research and development activities and additional manufacturing capacity. Lloyd re-emphasized that the main manufacturing facility will continue to be based in Bancroft.
The SkyJack facility was closed several years ago due to the downturn in the construction industry.
"Right now, we are working on various incentives to assist Aluma in locating this branch in Emmetsburg," Elbert noted. "It's a complicated process and it's going to take awhile, but things are truly very well in place."
