It took five games for Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks to record their first match victory of the 2012 campaign Tuesday night. Emmetsburg earned a 3-2 win over the Indians of Pocahontas Area by game scores of 25-21, 13-25, 25-27, 25-18 and 15-9.
Whitney Kibbie would have a great night at the service line, making 22 of 24 serves with one ace. At the net, Kibbie added 27 of 34 hits with 12 kills, dug out 17 shots and added 13 assists to the winning effort.
Jacque Carlson was perfect at the line with 19 of 19 serves and four aces. Carlson came up with 19 of 21 hits and five kills on the night, as well as four digs and one assist.
Alexa Naig made 17 of 18 serves and had 16 of 18 hits with five kills, while digging out nine shots and handing out 28 assists.
Emily Noll made 16 of 18 serves with three aces at the line, and then added 11 of 15 hits for seven kills. Noll assisted on one block, dug out five shots and handed out two assists.
Ashton Connelly made 17 of 17 serves with three aces and made 30 of 36 hits for 11 kills. Connelly assisted on one block, dug out six shots and made two assists.
Miranda Vlasman would chip in six of six serves, but hammered down 34 fo 40 hits with 13 kills for the Lady E-Hawks and also dug out 12 shots.
Michaela Rehm would dig out 24 shots on the match and added a pair of hits, while Kendal Deitering made 17 digs in the win.
Emmetsburg will host its own Invitational Tournament Saturday, Sept. 8, starting at 9 a.m. Along with Emmetsburg, teams participating in the event include Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire, Bishop Garrigan of Algona and Storm Lake.
The Lady E-Hawks will then open Lakes Conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 11, when they play host to Cherokee.
