E-Hawk Booster Club Golf Outing Another Success

The Emmetsburg E-Hawk Booster Club had to wait an extra day to get in their Annual Golf Outing, but Sunday's event was termed a success by the organizers. Some 50 golfers turned out under sunny skies to enjoy the best-ball tournament, played at the Five Island Golf Course.

Former Emmetsburg educator Jerry Strand was the honored guest of the event, and received a special appreciation award for his years of service to students of the Emmetsburg Community Schools in the classroom, as well as Athletic Director and Concession stand coordinator for many years.

Winning the Best Ball Tournament was the foursome of Marcie Frevert, Doc Frevert, Kort Freeman and Brent McAllister with a score of 25.

Second Place in the First Flight went to the team of John Hand, Scott Wirtz, Max Strube and Todd Lundgren with a 25 after a tiebreaker hole was used.

Winning the Second Flight was the threesome of Rick Bird, John Bird and Steve Finer with a score of 30 while Second place honors in the Second Flight went to the foursome comprised of Gerard Ruiz, Clayton Freeman, Katie Ruiz and Gerard Ruiz Jr. with a score of 33.

Other results included a 34 from the threesome of Bill Doerning, Jerry Strand and Kathy Strand. The foursome of Spencer Funk, Kerry Frields, Ted Nelson and Kent Klootwyk finished with a 39 and the foursome of Mike Myers, Bill Brennan, Sam Brownlee and Pete Hamilton shot a 27.

Jared Pickett, Valerie Pickett, Shawn Schany and Nate Schany carded a round of 28 while Travis Birkey, Jeff Naig, Sean Connelly and Chad Jacobsen recorded at 28 as well.

Mick Carlson, Tracey Carlson, Jim Bird and Steph Bird shot a round of 29, while Scott Kibbie, Jake Kibbie, Dean VerMulm and Lane VerMulm shot a 33.

The foursome of Brian Malm, Amy Malm, Ryan Berkland and Tonya Berkland shot a 39 and the foursome of Jack Kibbie, Bill Huberty, Josh Kibbie and Joel Kibbie carded a round of 32.
