A perfect opportunity for the younger girls in the area to become a cheerleader for an evening is coming up this Friday night. The Emmetsburg High School cheerleading squad is once again sponsoring the Little E-Hawk Cheer Clinic on Friday, Aug. 31, from 2:30 to 5 p.m. in the Emmetsburg Middle School gym.
The Cheer Clinic is designed for youth in preschool through sixth grade. The participants learn and then practice various cheers, jumps, stunts, dances and chants during the session,
As school dismisses one hour early on Aug. 31, the clinic will begin at 2:30 in the Middle School Gym, and will feature the participants performing a cheer and routine in the Middle School gym at 4:30 p.m. for parents and friends.
But the fun is just beginning at that point.
Later that evening, the Emmetsburg E-Hawks will open the home season by hosting the Nighthawks of Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley in a contest at Duane Twait Field, starting at 7 p.m.
The participants of the Little E-Hawk Cheer Clinic will be able to show the skills they learned and practiced that afternoon in front of the E-Hawk fans at Duane Twait Field during the football game.
While pre-registration ended last week, walk-in participation is still welcomed. Youth who want to participate should report to the Middle School gym at 2:30 on Friday afternoon.
