The Emmetsburg Lions Club is once again sponsoring the Butch Brown Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing this Saturday, Aug. 4. The event is set for a shotgun start at 10 a.m. at the Five Island Golf and Community Center in Emmetsburg.
Registration for the event will begin at 9 a.m. at the clubhouse and includes a ribeye sandwich luncheon following golf.
The event is a fundraiser for the Butch Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund, which allows for a scholarship to be presented each year in memory of long-time Emmetsburg resident Mike (Butch) Brown.
Brown was a staunch supporter of Emmetsburg High School activities and a former member of the School Board in addition to his legal practice.
