RUTHVEN -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Eldon "Bud"?Larson will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ruthven. The Rev. Clem Currans will be the celebrant.
Visitation will be Monday, July 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven.
Eldon Larson, son of Ed and Maggie Maude (Holderness) Larson, was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Albert City. He began his education at Logan Township School and graduated from Gillett Grove High School in 1943.
Eldon was united in marriage to Leone Monk on Jan. 25, 1948 in Ruthven. To this union three children were born.
Eldon, who became known as Bud to his family and friends, farmed his entire life near Ruthven. Bud loved farming and caring for the land. When he was not farming he enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Bud was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Bud passed away Saturday, June 14, 2012, at the Ruthven Community Care Center at the age of 87.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jane Downey; and brother-in-law, Chester Triggs.
He is survived by his wife, Leone of Ruthven; two sons, Robert Larson (Carla) of Ruthven; and Richard Larson (Barb) of Ruthven; son-in-law, Gary Downey of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and sister, Grace Triggs of Spirit Lake.
