West Bend Plans Weekend Celebration

4th of July Events June 29, 30 and July 1

WEST BEND -- The community of West Bend continues celebrating this weekend with its annual 4th of July festivities.

Events actually began last Saturday with the Hawkeye FFA Alumni Antique Tractor Pull. The tractors will be on the road again this Friday, June 29, with the Hawkeye FFA Alumni Tractor Ride. Registration begins at 7 a.m. at West Bend International.

Palo Alto County Cattlemen will host a barbecue Friday form 5 to 7 p.m. on the school grounds. Enjoy West Bend-Mallard Softball vs Clay Central Everly with the game beginning at 5:30.

Head to Main Street for the Street Dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Rude Band will provide music.

There is a full schedule of events this Saturday,?June 30, beginning with the annual Independence Day Parade. Parade entries will line up at 9:30 a.m. and judging will be at 10:30 a.m. The parade begins at 11 a.m.

Food stands open at 12 noon on the school grounds. Carnival games and the Fern Valley 4-H?Petting Zoo are from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Bingo and Inflatable Rides are from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Water Fights, sponsored by West Bend Fire Department, begin at 1:30 p.m.

Liberty Games always draw a big crowd of youngsters. The games will be played at 3:30 p.m. on the school grounds. Pedal Tractor Pulls begin at 5 p.m.

West Bend-Mallard Drill Team will perform at 6:15 p.m. The Auction begins at 6:30 p.m. and so does Cow Pie Bingo.

Mindy's Miles bike give-away is at 8 p.m. At 8:30 p.m. is the Sheltered Reality Drum Line performance.

Fireworks will fill the air at dusk.

Throughout the day there will be free swimming at the West Bend pool, and check out West Bend Ford's Corn Box.

The weekend will conclude with a Chamber Breakfast. Chris Cakes will be served at the Community Center from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
