Forty-two members of the Emmetsburg High School Class of 2012 will participate in commencement exercises this Sunday, May 20. The ceremony begins at 2 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Graduates will accept their high school diplomas before a gym filled with family and friends.
The classmates have chosen the class motto: "Together we have experienced life, separately we will pursue our dreams, and forever our memories will remain." Their class colors are turquoise and white, and class flower is the spider mum.
Senior Class President is Jordan Bragg, Tayler Bruns is Class Vice President, Class Secretary is Kaitlyn Degen, and Austin Bonnstetter is Class Treasurer. Senior Student Council members include: Paige Naig, Brady Berkland, Andrew Garrelts, Katie Kassel, and Arik Kerr.

The Emmetsburg High School Concert Band, under the direction of Aaron Phillips, band director, will play a pre-commencement concert featuring "Russian Folk Fantasy Song" arranged by Curnow and the "Star Spangled Banner." Phillips will then conduct the band in the traditional processional, "Pomp and Circumstance," arranged by James Ployhar.
Members of the Senior Class will be escorted to their seats by Whitney Kibbie and Hanna VanOosbree, Junior Class Marshals.
David Fog, vocal music director, will lead the Emmetsburg High School Concert Choir in their vocal selections, "Defying Gravity" and "100 Years."
Jordan Bragg, Class President, will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies. Class Valedictorian Paige Naig and the Class Salutatorian (yet to be determined) will provide the Commencement address.
Principal Jay Jurrens will then present the Emmetsburg High School Class of 2012. Jurrens will be assisted in the awarding of diplomas by Board of Education members Karla Anderson and B.J. Schany, and Superintendent John Joynt.
