Picture yourself on a sandy beach, the waves lapping gently against the sand, a gentle breeze caresses your face. Ahhhh, what a way to relax and enjoy yourself in the tropics, at a luau.
The organizers of Auction Fest 2012 are bringing the best of a tropical luau to Corrigan Hall this Saturday evening for the annual fundraising dinner and auctions to support the Emmetsburg Catholic Schools. The finishing touches are being put on Corrigan Hall to transform it into a tropical paradise for this weekend.
Auction Fest weekend starts Friday evening with the annual Preview Party. The Preview Party is open to the public with doors opening at 5 p.m. Hors'devours and games will be available for participants. The Preview Party is the perfect opportunity to look at the wide variety of silent auction and live auction items that will be up for bid on Saturday night, as well as a great opportunity to purchase tickets for some of the other prize drawings, including the 1946 fully restored John Deere Model B tractor.
The students of Emmetsburg Catholic School have worked hard to raise money for prize packages to be auctioned off at this weekend’s Auction Fest, “Luau”. The annual fundraising event for the Emmetsburg Catholic Schools gets underway Saturday night with the social hour at 5 p.m., followed by dinner and the live and silent auctions. The annual public Preview Party will be held Friday night, March 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. to allow the public a chance to see the various auction items and the tropical theme for Luau – Auction Fest 2012. –-Dan Voigt photo
As always, the "Chest of Chance" game will be in operation on Friday during the Preview Party, which will conclude at 7 p.m.
Saturday's trip to the tropics will begin at 5 p.m. when the doors open. A social hour will run from 5 until 7 p.m. with dinner to follow and the live auction getting underway once again at 8 p.m. Along with hundreds of silent auction items ranging from gift certificates, holiday items, collegiate apparel and memorabilia, the live auction once again promises to be filled with many one-of-a-kind items, waiting to go to the highest bidder.
Once again, Joe Temme of Omaha will return to cry the auction, which will feature items including a moped, a garage door screen kit and the ever-popular Emmetsburg Catholic School Tuition package. A new live auction item guaranteed to draw lots of bidding interest will be a "Supermarket Sweep", where the successful bidder will be allowed to take to the aisles of the Food Pride in Emmetsburg to stock their grocery carts with as much food as possible in two minutes.
The proceeds from the Auction Fest are directed to the students and the ongoing operations of the Emmetsburg Catholic School.
