Palo Alto County's natural scenic attractions will once again provide a welcoming backdrop for an antique tractor ride later this Summer. Officials of KISS Radio in Mason City have announced that the North Iowa Tractor Ride will take place from July 19-21, originating and ending in Emmetsburg.
According to information provided by North Iowa Broadcasting, owners of KISS Country 98.7, the 2012 North Iowa Tractor Ride, sponsored by Auto Edge, will begin on Thursday, July 19, with registration from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the Palo Alto County Fairgrounds.
The actual ride will begin on Friday morning, July 20, from the Fairgrounds, with the route going north from Emmetsburg on N40 to B14 and east to N60, before turning north and then stopping in Ringsted for a mid-morning break. After leaving Ringsted, the riders will continue cross country, passing through the Ingham and High Lake areas before stopping in Estherville for lunch. After lunch, the riders will proceed out of Estherville to Superior, and then loop north into Minnesota before returning south to arrive in Spirit Lake for their overnight stop.
On Saturday, July 21, the riders will leave Spirit Lake and travel south to Milford, where they will travel east to Terril and then south to Lake Center, before heading east to travel through the Lost Island Lake complex and into Ruthven for a lunch stop. Leaving Ruthven, the riders will head south and then turn east to travel past Silver Lake, continuing through Ayrshire, then east on B55 to Highway Four, where they will travel north to return to Emmetsburg to conclude the ride.
