WEST BEND -- Iva Mae Banwart of West Bend died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at the West Bend Care Center. She was 96.
Funeral service for Iva Banwart was Friday, Jan. 20, at the United Methodist Church in West Bend. The Rev. Judy DePue officiated.
Burial was in Ellington Cemetery, Mallard. The Harris Funeral Home in West Bend was in charge of arrangements.
Iva Mae Schwint Banwart, the daughter of Joseph and Fern Feaster Schwint, was born Feb. 25, 1915, in DeSmet, SD. She married Adrian Barber on?Jan. 7, 1937, and the couple lived in the Mallard area. Andrian died in 1963.
On June 8, 1968, Iva and Fred Banwart were married. The couple lived and farmed in the West Bend area, eventually moving to town.
Iva was a member of the United Methodist Church of West Bend and the ladies circles of the church. She enjoyed her grandchildren and quilting.
Survivors include her children:?Russell (Marilyn) Barber of Omaha, NE, Clifford (Judy) Barber of Omaha, NE, Robert (Betty) Barber of Algona, Sharon Jo (Robert) Bridgmon of Pawnee City, NE, Doris (Philip)?Conrad of Omaha, NE, Marian Raumaker of Omaha, NE, Don (Jane) Banwart of West Bend, Delores (Hank) Spiller of Austin, TX, and Albert (Toni)?Banwart of Bozeman, MT, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, LauraBel?(Frank)?Fliss of Spirit Lake.
Iva Banwart was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrian; her second husband, Fred; and sisters, Verdell, Shirley and infant sister Lola.
