It was a rough start to the second half of the season for the Ruthven-Ayrshire/Graettinger-Terril boys basketball team on Tuesday as they fell to Harris-Lake Park by a 73-37 margin at Lake Park. On Thursday, the Raiders fell to Laurens-Marathon by a 38-56 score, but closed out the week with a 47-45 win over Clay Central-Everly on Friday night to give them a record of 2-8.
Against Harris-Lake Park, the Raiders were led offensively by the 11 points of Colin Leiting, who was followed by the 10 points of Austin Dyer and the eight-point effort of Mitch Girres. Marcus Girres and Garrett Parker both scored three points in the contest while Connor Sturgill added two points to the effort.
Defensively, Colin Leiting pulled down six rebounds with Mitch Girres grabbing five boards and dishing out three assists while Austin Dyer made four assists.
In Thursday's game, Austin Dyer would led the effort with 12 points while Mitch Girres added 11 points to the mix. Colin Leiting chipped in nine points, with Garrett Parker scoring three points. Trevor Hagedorn added a bucket for two points and Connor Sturgill added a free throw.
The week would end on a positive note with the Raiders persevering to claim the 47-45 win over Cornbelt Conference foe Clay Central-Everly. Once again, Austin Dyer would pace the RA/GT offense with his 18-point game, while Mitch Girres added a dozen points to the coffers. Garrett Parker scored seven points and Dylan Fischer added six points, while Carter Williamson and Colin Leiting both scored two points. Dylan Fischer would grab seven rebounds, with Mitch Girres collecting six boards and Carter Williamson pulling down five caroms in the win.
"The Raiders came out and played aggressively from start to finish," noted Ruthven-Ayrshire/Graettinger-Terril Head Coach Randy Hough. "We had great play off of our bench and ran our offense and defensive schemes the best we have this year. This was a good win for the Raiders."
