2012 Junior Miss Pageant Is Set For March 11

January 12, 2012
Emmetsburg News

The 2012 St. Patrick's Junior Miss Pageant will be held Sunday, March 11, at the Emmetsburg High School Auditorium, begining at 3 p.m.

Again this year, the pageant will be divided into three categories: Little Miss Shamrock (ages 5-8), Little Lassie (ages 9-12), and Irish Miss (ages 13-16). The contest is limited to eight entries in each age group. Contestants entering the Little Miss Shamrock must be age 5 by March 11, 2012, no exceptions. One winner will be crowned in each age group.

Entry forms are available at St. Patrick's Headquarters, downtown Emmetsburg, or download the entry form at www.emmetsburgirishgifts.com. Only residents in Palo Alto County and contiguous counties will be eligible to participate in the pageants. Previous year's Junior Pageant winners are not eligible to take part in the competition.

Entries will only be accepted the week of Monday, Jan. 23, through 12 noon Saturday, Jan. 28. Any early or late entries will be rejected. Phone call entries will not be accepted. Deliver entry forms to St. Pat's Headquarters, 1001 Broadway, or e-mail entries to stpats@iowatelecom.net. Entries can be mailed, but must be received at St. Pat's Headquarters by the Jan. 28 deadline.

Eight contestants will be drawn from all entries submitted in each category. Should a drawing be needed, it will be held on Monday, Jan. 30, at St. Pat's Headquarters. Entries drawn will be notified on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

During the pageants, contestants will be judged in the following areas: pre-pageant interview, talent, overall presentation and appearance. Contestants that are chosen as queen will also need to be able to participate in all activities and parades during the summer and throughout the year that are prearranged by the St. Patrick's Association. Some of the parades that St. Pat's participate in include Spencer Flagfest, Spirit Lake Days, Bully Bullhead Weekend and Graettinger Labor Day. This is only a partial preview of the parades that the St. Pat's Association attends. A complete list will be given to the winners in each group.

Stop in at St. Pat's and pick up an entry form. St. Pat's hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Headquarters office is closed Sunday.
