POCAHONTAS - For the West Bend-Mallard/Gil-more City-Bradgate Wolverines, Monday's matchup with the Indians of Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer was a frustrating loss. The Wolverines fought hard all evening long but came up on the wrong end of a 65-47 score.

The game started out at near break-neck speed as the ball was pushed up and down the floor rapidly, causing several turnovers as both defenses were slapping away at passes. However, the Wolverines managed to match the Indians offense and held a 16-15 lead after the first quarter.

The pace slowed somewhat in the second but offensive board began to be a weakness for the Wolverines, as the Indians were clearing the glass better and translated some extra opportunities into a 29-25 lead a the break.

The Indians would use a patient offense and tough defense to edge out to a 48-39 lead after the third quarter, but in the final quarter, the Wolverines saw their shooting touch cool, as the Indians managed to keep the pressure up and held WBM/GCB to just eight points in the final quarter for the 47-65 loss.

For the Wolverines, Jason Zinnel would lead the offense with a 14 point effort, while Jordan Buhs added a bakers' dozen points and Jesse Zinnel came away with 11 points. Mitch Bonnstetter rounded out the scoring with nine points.

The Wolverines made two of six free throws in the game while the Indians converted four of eight trips to the charity stripe.
