VENTURA - Ruthven-Ayrshire/Graettinger-Terril's girls basketball team made the long road trip to Ventura Tuesday night and came home on the wrong side of a 54-31 decision.
It was a tough first quarter for the Raider girls, as they only managed six points while the host Vikings took an 18-6 advantage when the first quarter ended.
The deficit would grow to 20 points in the second quarter as Ventura extended their lead to a 37-17 margin at the half-time break.
The scoring slowed down for both teams in the third quarter, with both the Raiders and Vikings scoring only seven points each for a 24-44 score to start the fourth quarter.
Ruthven-Ayrshire/Graettinger-Terril continued to battle hard in the final quarter but couldn't get any closer than the 54-31 final tally.
The Raiders were led offensively by Brooke Hoffman with 11 points, while Alesha Sikora added 10 points. Lauren Flaharty scored six points, while Cassy Hampson added two points and Alex Olesen and Tiff Harris both added free throws to the effort.
