WEST?BEND - The Lady Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate claimed a 54-35 victory over Clay Central-Everly Friday night in Cornbelt Conference girls hoops at Everly.
The Lady Wolverines started slowly in the first quarter, but held a slim, 8-4 lead at the end of the first quarter of play. WBM/GCB would outscore the Lady Mavericks in the second quarter by a 13-11 margin to take a 21-15 lead at the intermission and then edged out to a 34-23 advantage to start the final quarter.
The Lady Wolverines would tally 20 points in the final period fort he 54-35 final.
Jessica Abrahamson led the offense with 13 points while Sarah Berte added 10 points. Kayla Banwart scored eight points and Wendy Grimm chipped in six points.
Jessica Abrahamson had nine rebounds, three steals and three blocks. Kayla Banwart dished out four assists in the winning effort and Sarah Berte came away with five steals.
