The E-Hawks of Emmetsburg opened the Lakes Conference season with a solid 64-40 win over Estherville Lincoln Central on Tuesday night.
Coach Mike Brennan's E-Hawks jumped out to a 21-15 lead after one quarter and held a 36-27 advantage at the intermission. In the third quarter, Emmetsburg limited the Midgets to just six points while taking a 52-33 lead into the final stanza to record the 67-40 final.
Marcus Akridge would lead all scorers on the night as he stroked the nets for 26 points. Ryan Kliegl would add a 16 point performance, with Jake Carlson coming away with 10 tallies. Jake Jackson would chip in nine points, while Zach Overberg came away with five points and Joe Jackson added a free throw coming off the bench.
Emmetsburg improves to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Lakes as they travel to LeMars on Friday night for Lakes Conference play.
