Emmetsburg's Freshman E-Hawk boys have earned a 1-1 mark after their first two games of the season.
On December 1, the E-Hawk Freshman boys traveled to Algona Garrigan for their first game of the year. After struggling through the first half and trailing 26-8, the E-Hawks battled back to make a game of it, only to fall 41-32. They cut Bishop Garrigan's lead to five, but time ran out resulting in the 41-32 score.
Leading the way for the E-Hawks was Greg Wesley scoring 10 points, Luke Jackson had eight and Zach Anderson added six. Jacob Kibbie tallied four ponts, Cooper Hofstad added three and Nick Jackson added a free throw. Luke Jackson collected 19 rebounds while Wesley added 11 more. Jacob Kibbie distributed four assists and Luke Jackson had seven steals.
December 5, the young E-Hawks traveled to Okoboji where they were able to attain a 42-20 win in a close contest that featured some timely fourth quarter plays. Jacob Kibbie led the way with 14 points, making six of eight shots.
Luke Jackson would add 10 points while Greg Wesley scored eight and Zach Anderson had seven, Nick Jackson scored two points and Cooper Hofstad added a free throw.
Luke Jackson led the team in rebounding with seven while Wesley and Anderson each pulled down six carroms. Wesley also had eight assists.
The E-Hawks took better care of the ball turning it over only 12 times. The team played very well and ended up overcoming eight treys made by the Pioneers to come away with the two-point victory.
