OKOBOJI - The Knight wrestlers of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire would finish seventh overall at Saturday's Okoboji Invitational, earning a pair of runner-up finishes to pace the effort.
Tyler Dalen and Austin Thompson would earn second place finishes for the Knights to lead the finishes on the day. Dalen, wrestling at 113 pounds, earned a 1:40 fall over Ryan Bolsten of Okoboji and a 6-0 decision over Bailey Hawn of Spencer before being pinned in the finals by Doug Miner of Spirit Lake Park in 3:07.
At 120 pounds, Austin Thompson had a first-round bye, then earned 1:02 win by fall over Nick Gross of Spencer before being pinned in the finals by Zach Skopec of Spirit Lake Park in 2:15.
The Knights got a third place from Trent Lundgren at 138 pounds, while Matt McGrauth finished fourth at 182 pounds and Cody Thompson finished fourth at 220 pounds.
Quinn Parker would earn a fifth place finish in action at 170 pounds for the Knights and Connor Tonderum finished sixth at 126 pounds to round out GT/RA's efforts on the day.
"We had an up and down day for the most part,"?noted GT/RA?Head Coach Cody Alesch. "We definitely have some things to work on, but we did some good things as well. We as a team need to work towards being more consistent, especially with our intensity."
The Knights will gear up to host Emmetsburg and Sibley-Ocheyedan tonight (Tuesday)?in a double-dual at Graettinger. The first match is set to begin at 6 p.m.
