The Emmetsburg Recreation Department is once again sponsoring the annual Boys and Girls Youth Basketball Program. The program is open and offered to all boys and girls in First through Fourth grades.
The program will be held on Saturday mornings in the Emmetsburg High School Gym and Middle School Gym.
The program will begin on Saturday, January 7th, 2012 and will run through February 4th, 2012. Girls will meet in the Middle School Gym with Boys meeting in the High School Gym.
Third and Fourth graders will meet from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and the First and second graders will meet from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. A schedule for scrimmages will be handed out to participants on January 7th.
The Youth Basketball Program is designed to teach the basic rules and fundamentals of the game. Members of the Emmetsburg High School varsity basketball staffs and team members will coach the youth in the program.
Participants will then be able to showcase their skills during selected home basketball games of the Emmetsburg Lady E-Hawks and E-Hawks during the season.

The First through Fourth boys and girls will have the opportunity to play during half time at the high school during the varsity games. The boys and girls are encouraged to play at this time. They will play for six minutes during half time. Athletes should meet by the boy's locker room with one minute left in the second quarter of the boy's or girl's game.

Parents who come to the game at the start of the girls or boy's game will be asked to pay admission. If parents arrive at half time or shortly before half time just to watch their son or daughter and leave after half time, they will not be asked to pay admission. Parents are asked to encourage their children to take advantage of this opportunity to play in these games, Parents are also encouraged to come and watch their son or daughter participate in these games.se encourage your son or daughter to play in the games at half time.
