IOWA CITY -- Alene Fay Seagren, 96, of North Liberty died peacefully Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 at Lantern Park Care Center in Coralville.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at Grace Baptist Church in Emmetsburg, with Rev. Curt DeFord officiating.
Graveside Services will be held at 4 p.m. at Rush Lake Cemetery in Curlew.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Alene was born July 28, 1915 in Curlew, the daughter of Frank and Estella Gross Trow. On Sept. 4, 1934 Alene married Luvern " Squeek" Seagren in Swea City.
Alene and Squeek owned the Seagren Store in Curlew. She later was employed by Dr. Coffey of Emmetsburg and the at Iowa Trust & Savings Bank. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Curlew. Alene loved to bake, can, sew, quilt and was an avid supporter of the Cubs and the Hawkeyes.
In 2003 Alene moved to the Iowa City area to be near her sons.
Alene is survived by two sons, Ralph (Jane) Seagren of North Liberty and Alan (Kay) Seagren of Iowa City; three grandchildren, Laura Seagren of West Branch, Scott (Sharee) Seagren of North Liberty and Kimberly (Brent) Roth of Carver, MN; five great grandchildren, Nolan, Dominique and Carlei Seagren, Natalie and Erika Roth; lifelong aunt and friend Edra Lowman Hubbell of Curlew.
Alene was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1987 and their infant son, Robert and two brothers, Maurice and William.
