ESTHERVILLE - The Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College wrapped up one year and began another at their monthly meeting held at the Administrative Offices in Estherville on Oct. 18.
Their first step was to accept the election results from September. The 2010-2011 board was then adjourned by Board of Trustees President Jan Lund. Board Secretary Clark Marshall called the new board to order and administered the oath of office to Jan Lund and David Gottsche, incumbents, and Jane Nolan Goeken and Arden Kinnander, new members.
The Trustees then elected officers. Jan Lund was elected as the President of the Iowa Lakes Trustees and Pat Kibbie was elected to the position of Vice President. In addition, Clark Marshall was appointed to serve as secretary of the board, and, Bob L'Heureux as treasurer. Scot Bauermeister was selected as the attorney for the Trustees.
After finishing other annual routine business, the Trustees were introduced to a new faculty member by Mark Gruwell, Executive Dean of Instruction and Development.
The Trustees then turned their attention to student campus leaders at Iowa Lakes. A number of resident assistants, graduate assistants as well as student senators spoke with the Trustees about their leadership roles. They also shared what activities they have planned at their respective campuses. In addition, the students recently participated in a daylong team building and leadership training session at Camp Foster. In addition, Student Senate officers head to a state leadership conference in Coralville later this month.
