GRAETTINGER -- Funeral service for Ronald D. Olesen of Graettinger was Saturday, Sept. 24, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger. Pastor Christine Lang officiated.

Burial was in South Walnut Cemetery, Graettinger. Military rites were conducted by members of Nelson-Christensen Post 162 American Legion, Graettinger. The Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Graettinger was in charge of arrangements.

Ronald Dean Olesen, the son of Clarence and Grace (Ruby) Olesen was born April 11, 1932, in Graettinger. Ron passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at his home in Graettinger at the age of 79.

He received his education in the Graettinger schools graduating from Graettinger High School. Ron served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955.

On Nov. 11, 1962, he was united in marriage to Sandra Christiansen in Graettinger. The couple lived in Minnesota, Colorado, Texas and Iowa. Ron farmed, did carpentry work and mobile home service and set up. For hobbies, Ron enjoyed fishing and especially spen-ding time with his family.

Ron was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the VFW in Estherville and American Legion in Graettinger.

Left to cherish Ron's memory is his wife Sandi; children, Steve Olesen and his wife, Ronda, and Tam-my Peyton and her husband John, all of Graettinger; seven grandchildren, Shantel Stratz and her husband, Ben, Allison Donlan and her husband, Kyle, Brandon Peyton, Christopher Olesen, Katie Olesen,; Cassandra Olesen and Grace Olesen; sisters, Sharon Adams and her husband, Walt, and Patricia Nelson and her husband, Denny; brother, Paul Olesen; sisters-in-law, Lucy Olesen, Ruby Olesen and Susan Christiansen; brothers-in-law, Leon Christiansen, Clarion Christiansen and his wife, Hazel and Richard Christiansen and his wife, Gwen; an uncle, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ron in death were his parents, twin-brother, Donald and brothers Richard and Robert.
