BOONE - The Algona-Emmetsburg-Estherville Lincoln Central girls swim team traveled to Boone on Tuesday night for a double duel with Boone and Perry.
The team would earn a split on the night, losing to Boone by a 58-36 tally, but came back to defeat the swimmers from Perry by a 50-44 final score.
"This was a good meet for the girls as they came out and swam hard," noted Head Coach Jim Fisher. "We had three good days of practice last week after dropping two meets at Lincoln. I was a little concerned with the long holiday weekend but we had 17 better times than last week."
The 200 Meter Medley Relay earned a victory against Boone, as the team of Hannah Priest, Maddie Stubbs, Kendall Bosch and Alyssa Williams turned in a time of 2;10.24.
Other top finishes against Boone included Hannah Priest winning the breaststroke, while second place finishes came from Maddie Stubbs in the 200 IM, Nicole Kenne in the 200 Free, Alyssa Williams in the 100 Fly and the 200 Freestyle Relay, with the foursome of Alyssa Williams, Maddie Stubbs, Kendall Bosch and Hannah Priest.
The 400 Free Relay team of Alysha Pettyjohn, Stubbs, Bosch and Erica Carlson finished third. while a fourth place finish went to Kendra Roethler in the 200 Free along with Abby Strohman in the 200 IM, Hannah Priest in the 50 Free, Pettyjohn in the 100 free, Kenne in the 500 free, Alyssa Williams in the 100 back and the 200 Free Relay team, comprised of Pettyjohn,Roethler, Emma Plathe and Mackenzie Wilson.
"We were with Boone until the last four events of the night, and had Perry most of the way," Coach Fisher said. "The team showed what hard work will do."
The next action for the swim team will be a home meet at Algona, coming up on Thursday, Sept. 15.
