Funeral service for Margaret Bigger of Emmetsburg will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.
Margaret Bigger was born Nov. 7, 1917 in Emmetsburg. She was the daughter of Henry and Christina (Young) Beck. Margaret graduated from Emmetsburg High School
She married Floyd Bigger in 1938. They lived in the Emmetsburg and Ruthven areas all of their lives.
Margaret was a member of the Congregational Church until joining the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. She worked for many years with the hot lunch program at the Emmetsburg Public Schools, retiring in 1983
Margaret passed away Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd Bigger in 1998; grandson, Aaron Wood in 2002; sisters, Christine Mattheis and Mary Diehl; and brothers, Thomas Beck, Robert Beck and John Beck.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gerald Wood of Emmetsburg; several nieces and nephews; as well as many friends.
