City’s Ward Boundaries Change

"In what Ward do I live?" There isn't a whole lot of change to the Wards, but enough to make you wonder.

Every ten years, after the Census has been taken, the city adjusts its four Ward Boundaries, trying to make each ward as close in population as possible. Emmetsburg is working with a population of 3,904.

New City Wards Boundaries

WARD?I (984 people) -- North of the center line of 9th Street (Highway 18) and East of the center line of Huron Street; also that area North of center line of 5th Street; also that area North of the center line of 7th Street, located between the center lines of Palmer Street and Grand Avenue, West to East; also North of center line of 4th Street, South of center line of College Drive and East of center line of Superior; also North of College Drive and east of Palo Alto County Road N-40.

WARD?II (967 people) -- That area between the center lines of Lawler and Palmer Streets, East to West and located between the center lines of 4th Street and 7th Street, North to South; also the area located between the center lines of Superior and Lawler Streets, West to East, of 4th Street and 9th Street (Highway 18), North to South; also that area North of the center line of 9th Street (Highway 18) and West of Superior Street; also that area North of the center line of College Drive and West of center line of Palo Alto County Road N-40.

WARD?III (984 people) -- That area located between the center lines of Lawler Street and Broadway, East to West, of 7th and 9th Streets, North to South; also that area located East of center line of Broadway and South of center line of 9th Street (Highway 18).

WARD?IV?(969 people) -- That area located between the center lines of Grand Avenue and Huron Street, West to East, of 5th and 7th Streets, North to South; also that area located between the center lines of Broadway and Huron Streets, West to East, of 7th Street and 9th Street (Highway 18), North to South; also that area located East of center line of Broadway and South of the center line of 9th Street (Highway 18).
