Betty Lou Loomis 1924-2009

Funeral service for Betty Lou Loomis of Ayrshire is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the United Methodist Church in Ayrshire. The Rev. Roger Maize will officiate.

Burial is in Silver Lake Cemetery, Ayrshire. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Betty died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. She was 85.

Betty Lou Loomis, daughter of Charles and Ivah Marie (Bennett) Allen, was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Sioux Rapids. She attended school in Silver Lake Township, graduating from Ayrshire High School in 1942.

On Oct. 7, 1948, Betty and Lester L. Loomis were married in Spencer. Betty was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ayrshire.

Surviving are her children, David Loomis and wife Tari of Camarallo, CA, Trudy Heiman of Grand Junction, CO, Daniel Loomis and wife Viola of Ottumwa, Nancy Doubek and her husband Doug of Centennial, CO, Michael Loomis of Reedsburg,?WI, and Barbara Loomis of Fairfield, CA; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Garnet Allen of Minneapolis,?MN, and brother, Don Allen of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Mrs. Loomis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester; daughter, Sally Loomis; sisters, Ilene Moodie, Darlys Utecht, June Allen and Shirley Nath; brothers, Harland “Skip” Allen and Derald Allen; and son-in-law, Don Heiman.
