Veterans Day Program At VFW

Lt. Jared Gledhill will be guest speaker at the Veterans Day program Wednesday, Nov. 11. The program will be held at 10 a.m. at the VFW Post in Emmetsburg.
Gledhill is the Executive Officer for Alpha Troop of the 113th Cavalry out of Camp Dodge. Raised in New Virginia, IA, he is a graduate of Iowa State University. He was deployed to Iraq in June 2007.
The annual Veterans Day program will begin with the Pledge of Allegiance and Star Spangled Banner. Music will be provided by the Emmetsburg Catholic School Choir, under the direction of Kelley Fog. Wayne Smith will also perform.
John Gannon, Gerald Firkins and Francis Farlow, members of VFW Post #2295, participated in an Iowa Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Gannon will speak about his experience on the flight that honors World War II veterans.
An Honor Flight Benefit will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, at Wild Rose Casino & Resort in Emmetsburg. VFW Post #2295 is working with the Wild Rose staff on a banquet and auction to raise funds for the Honor Flight program. Travis Dvorak from the Wild Rose will speak about the event.
Prayers will be offered by Pastor Steve Ellerbusch. Refreshments will be served by members of the VFW Auxiliary.
