UNIFUND 2009 Drive Underway

by Jane Whitmore
POSTED: September 29, 2009
Volunteers from 18 community organizations are canvassing Emmetsburg to collect monies for UNIFUND 2009. This is the annual fundraising campaign for each of these community groups.

There are two new community organizations on the 2009 UNIFUND campaign card. The American Red Cross will be participating in UNIFUND for the first time. E’Hawk Flag Football is also on the campaign card.

New last year were Boy Scouts (Troop #46), Girl Scouts, and Youth Soccer (NWIYSA). Also listed on the campaign card are: Emmetsburg Little League (Boys and Girls), Emmetsburg Police Reserves, Emmetsburg Swim Team, Emmetsburg Volunteer Fire Department, Horizons Unlimited, Hospice of Palo Alto County, Palo Alto Child Care Council, Palo Alto County Meals on Wheels, Palo Alto County Hospital Auxiliary, Palo Alto Genealogical Society, Palo Alto Historical Society, Palo Alto County Council on Aging and Multipurpose Center, and RSVP Volunteer Program.

“For a lot of these groups, this is their major fund raiser of the year,” said UNIFUND chairman LouAnn Huberty. “We hope that residents of Emmetsburg will donate through UNIFUND to help these worthy community organizations.”

Volunteers will be stopping door-to-door to drop off donation cards. Contributions can be designated for specific groups. Also, one donation can be shared by all of the organizations. Residents can give their donation to the volunteer or donations can be returned to the Emmetsburg Municipal Utilities office.

“If you do not receive a donation card, or if a donation card is left at your home and no one stops to pick up your card and donation, please give us a call,” said UNIFUND secretary/treasurer Linda Rouse.

Call LouAnn Huberty at 852-2334 or Linda Rouse at 852-2562.

A goal of $15,000 has been set for UNIFUND 2009 -“Sharing Is Caring.”
