Elmer Brumm 1921-2009

MESA, AZ – Elmer (Red) Brumm of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Curlew, passed away at Monday, Aug. 31, 2009 at his home in Venture Out, AZ, at the age of 88.
Elmer was born on April 22, 1921, in Curlew, the son of Henry John and Mary Eliza (Drown) Brumm. He was a graduate of Curlew High School. He served our country during World War II in the U.S. Army.
On Dec. 15, 1946, Elmer married Ellen Ruth Stewart. They had three children Ardella (Greg) Miller of Keokuk, Lou Ellen (Gary) Schooley of Iowa City, and Charlie (Linda) Brumm of Phoenix, AZ.
Elmer was employed as Postmaster of the Curlew Post Office until he retired in 1981 and moved to Mesa, AZ.
Elmer enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, boating and traveling. He was a member of a Mesa softball team that played in the over 80 World Series of Softball at the age of 80.
His wife Ellen Ruth preceded him in death and he is survived by his three children, ten grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers Rolland Brumm, Henry Brumm and Ivan (Ike) Brumm and one sister Ilah Johnson.
Valley of the Sun Mortuary, Chandler, AZ, was in charge of arrangements.
