Lady Wolverines End Season At 2A Regional Track Meet

EAGLE GROVE - The track and field season came to a close last Saturday for the West Bend-Mallard Lady Wolverines at the Class 2A Regional Track Meet at Eagle Grove. While the Lady Wolverines earned just four placings, they were unable to earn any qualifications for the State Track and Field Championships.
Missy Abrahamson led the Lady Wolverines with a third place finish in the shot put, throwing 34’5” and the finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 90’11”.
Michaela Grimm would finish fourth in the 200 meter dash, turning in a :28.41 time, while Brooke Bennett would finish fifth in the 3000meter run with a 12:16.76 clocking. Amanda Frieden would set a new personal best mark on Saturday in the 400 meter dash, where she finished with a :67.97 time.
The 4x100 relay, with Michaela Grimm, Megan Foth, shayla Simms and laura Smith, set a new school record with their finishing time of :55.30.
Other finishes included Jennica Ruppert throwing 31’3” in the shot put, and Erinn Studer throwing the discus 79’10”. The 4x800 relay, with Amanda Frieden, Sara Foley, Bailey Cavanaugh and Kari Zinnel, finished with an 11:52.88 and the shuttle hurdle relay, with Madi Dahlhauser, Jamie klepper, Bailey Cavanaugh and Laura Smith, finished with a 1:20.42.
The Distance Medley, comprised of Jenny Auten, Missy Abrahamson, Lindsey Schmidt and Kari Zinnel, finished with a 4:58.67 and the Sprint Medley, with Jenny Auten, Jamie Klepper, Missy Abrahamson and Amanda Frieden, turned in a 2:09.06. The 4x400 relay, comprised of Lindsey Schmidt, Jenny Auten, Laura Smith and Amanda Frieden, turned in a time of 4:43.98 and the 4x200 relay, with Michaela Grimm, Megan Foth, Shayla Simms and Laura Smith, ran a 1:58.5, but were disqualified for an exchange violation.
The Lady Wolverines will say goodbye to seniors Lindsey Schmidt and Kari Zinnel through graduation.
